Invisalign: Advantages and Benefits

The Invisalign ® Advantage

Invisalign ® aligners are growing in popularity as an effective and more comfortable alternative to traditional orthodontic treatment.  Until recently, patients seeking correct misaligned teeth were subjected to metal brackets bonded to the outer surface of teeth connected by archwires to move teeth into alignment.  This system was uncomfortable, unsightly and permanent throughout the treatment plan.

Invisalign ® changed the way patients undergo orthodontic treatment by moving teeth into alignment using a series of clear plastic aligners that gradually move the teeth a small amount at a time.  Invisalign ® aligner trays are custom molded to a patient’s teeth with each set of trays moving the patient’s teeth progressively closer into alignment.

Invisalign ® aligners are much more comfortable than traditional braces, and because they are made of a hard, translucent material, they are less noticeable and can be removed periodically to eat or for events and activities where the patient may prefer to not been seen wearing a dental appliance, such as a public speaking event or photography session.

Eating with Invisalign ® Aligners

Invisalign ® aligners can be inserted and removed easily which means you can be more free to eat foods that might otherwise be problematic with traditional metal orthodontic braces.   Now you can free from the dietary restrictions of certain foods which might cause damage to metal brackets and archwires and make brushing and flossing harder as well.
