Rebuilding Your Smile With Full Mouth Reconstructions

Dr. Kevin Hogan • Sep 11, 2019

Generally, a full mouth reconstruction is implemented when:

  • Teeth need to be replaced as a result of tooth decay, trauma, or periodontal disease
  • Restoring fractured teeth
  • Replacing severely worn-down teeth due to long term acid erosion or bruxism (teeth grinding)
  • Improving the overall function of the teeth and jaw-related to any muscle, head, or jaw pain

On average, most full mouth reconstruction cases are executed in a series of phases. The entire process can last up to 12 months with specific cases sometimes lasting longer. Some of the procedures may include:

Before you undergo the treatment there are a few things that should be addressed. Any form of periodontal issues that you might have should be taken care of before the procedure. The restoration will not last if your gums are not in good health. Cavities, decayed teeth, cracks, or root canal issues should also be treated before your operation. If you suffer from TMJ or other issues with your bite those should be corrected before as well.
