Cosmetic Dentistry Information: Know the Facts

Dr. Kevin Hogan • Aug 30, 2019

1.) Perform Online Research : Doing a few quick Google searches is a great way to start the process of due diligence when considering a cosmetic dentist.  Be sure to seek out information on dental directory sites that list current license information and complaints or lawsuits.  There are more sites you can imagine on this topic, so make sure that you are getting it from the right portal than just any other seemingly good but for entertainment site only.

2.) Visit the Practice Website : Be sure to visit the website of cosmetic dentist you are considering and review their credentials, certifications and review the continuing education courses they have attended.  These “Advanced Studies” courses may not carry a licensing certification, but may provide additional information about areas of specialty focus or enhanced training the doctor received in certain techniques or treatment modalities.

3.) Seek out Personal Referrals, Reviews, and Testimonials : After you have completed your online research, get a some personal references.  Ask you general physician or general dentist if you are seeking the services of a dental specialist.  And be sure get a personal referral from friends or family.  Finally, go online and review reliable sources of third-party, independent reviews and testimonials to see how other patients rate the quality of work they received.

4.) Contact Oversight and Regulatory Boards : Contact regulatory review boards to see if there are any pending or past disciplinary actions taken against the doctor.

5.) Ask to See Before and After Photos : Finally, as the doctor to see actual patient results in the form of before and after photos. This will help you gauge the artistic skill of your dentist to get a sense of the work your doctor can do before you undergo the procedure yourself.

Cosmetic Dentistry is an investment in your outward appearance and overall oral health.  The skill and experience of your cosmetic dentist is directly proportional to the quality of the outcome.  SPending a little time up front can result in a better outcome in the end.  To learn more about the cosmetic dentistry procedures offered by Dr. Kevin Hogan , call our office to schedule a consultation today.
